Identity, exhibition graphics, print, and environmental  design for Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.

Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind “examines Ono’s major contributions to performance, conceptualism, film, and music, while also inviting audiences to take part in both simple acts of the imagination and active encounters with Ono’s creations.... Featuring works made over seven decades and across three continents, Music of the Mind reveals a groundbreaking approach to language, art, and participation that continues to speak to the present moment.” (MCA)

The final design system leverages a centered lockup using a simpler cut of MCA Unit (10U 6.5) in reference to Ono’s visually minimal work. When accompanied, the date range features an elongated ‘em’ dash as a subtle nod in part to the horizontal line featured in Ono’s Blue Room Event (1966), featured in the museum’s Turner Gallery.

Print materials include full A8 invitation suite (x2 trifolds, singular card, envelope), bilingual 5x5” flyers, and poster.

The out-of-home campaign was incredibly dense throughout the city of Chicago, inserting poetic moments of peace throughout the bustling cityscape.
